My fellow Canadians and specifically Torontonians (urban and suburban), it is December 24th, 2015 (Christmas Eve) and barely a snowflake has hit the pavement.

This is my backyard today. Does yours look the same?

Are you tired of the mucky decomposing leaves and bare naked trees?

Are your children staring longingly at their toboggans/sleds, thinking of winters past?
WHERE IS WINTER!?!
Although for Canadians living in southern Ontario it is an obviously milder winter than we’ve had in the past two years, do remember we live in Canada. There is actually no records of a full winter coming and going without a snow flake at some point in the season.
The first half of the season has been strangely warm, and unfortunately a white Christmas is nothing but a 1954 movie title this year. However, rest assured the second half of the season will bring us that classic winter that we are so used to, and perhaps longing for. In fact, predictions suggest an extended winter. ( I hope your snow removal service contracts expire in April not March.)
But what is causing this Autumn on steroids? Simple answer; El Niño
“El Niño is associated with warmer than normal sea surface temperatures in the Pacific Ocean near the Equator, to the west of South America.“
This current of warmth travels globally and reaches us every couple years. This particular rotation has been the warmest on record. Also prudent to note, historically El Niño years have a reputation of delaying spring.
So fret not friends and neighbourhood kids, you’ll put those toboggans to use soon enough. Parents, remember it is never too late to sign on for snow removal service with Timbers Property Maintenance & Snow Removal, contact us via email or phone (see the Contact Us page) and get a free quote.
Where is winter? It’s coming…
